The chairman of the State Duma's Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs stated that a bill on a complete ban on the sale of e-cigarettes is currently under consideration in the State Duma, but a final decision has not yet been made. He noted that the initiative has received support from representatives of almost all political parties and pointed out that several regional levels in Russia have also publicly supported the position of a complete ban.

According to RIA Novosti, Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, stated in an interview that a bill on a complete ban on the sale of e-cigarettes has been submitted to the State Duma, but a final decision has not yet been made.

He believes that Russia will eventually take this step.

Nilov stated, “It’s not too late to stop e-cigarettes. This draft law has been submitted to the State Duma. The initiative has received the support of representatives from almost all parties, but a final decision has not yet been made. We see that even at the governor level, former Kaliningrad Oblast governor Anton Alikhanov, now the Minister of Industry and Trade, has publicly supported a complete ban. Nizhny Novgorod Oblast governor Gleb Nikitin has also publicly raised this issue during a meeting with the president.”

Nilov stated that e-cigarettes are now clearly no longer just devices for delivering nicotine, but rather sophisticated smart devices that can create dependence.

He also indicated that artificial intelligence may soon be integrated into them, making the fight against them increasingly difficult.

He emphasized that e-cigarette use is increasing within the Russian Federation, while the age of consumers is decreasing.
